About Us

Established in 1972, Elmslie Wines is one of the oldest vineyards on the Western side of the Tamar Valley. Positioned high above the Tamar River, the view from the vineyard slopes is magnificent.

From 1974 to 1977, 1.5 hectares of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon were planted. Since then we have planted additional Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Chardonnay.

The vineyard now covers an area of 4 hectares and we plan to expand this further.

In 2006 construction of a new winery commenced and was finished in time for vintage 2006.  This allowed us to be totally self sufficient in all aspects, from grape to wine.

The Tamar Valley is Tasmania’s foremost wine growing region with a reputation for producing premium cool-climate wines.

Mild Spring and Summer days, followed by a warm Autumn with cool evenings, allow the grapes grown in this region to ripen slowly and produce elegant fruit flavours.
